When applying polysiloxane coatings over a primer, is it possible to achieve 3,000 hours in scribed salt spray test?
Absolutely. We recommend to design the coatings system in 2 primer coats + 2 topcoats, 4 coats in total, with a film thickness over 250µm.
How high can the application solids content be for coatings made with polysiloxane resin?
Generally speaking, the application solid content of polysiloxane coatings can reach over 95%. For a film thickness of 80-100μm, the spreading rate is 0.16 kg/m², equivalent to 6 m²/kg.
Can polysiloxane resin be used on wind turbine towers and blades? Does polysiloxane prevent icing?
Yes, of course. Applying polysiloxane coatings on wind turbine towers and blades is relatively typical and innovative application. The anti-icing performance is good. We recommend to create the primer-topcoat-in-one coating with polysiloxane resins.
What adhesion level can SH-216 epoxy polysiloxane coating achieve on aluminum substrates? Are there specific indicators?
The adhesion of epoxy polysiloxane coatings on aluminum, galvanized substrates is not very good, it requires pairing with a suitable epoxy primer.
Have adhesion tests of polysiloxane coatings been done on ceramic and glass surface?
When applied polysiloxane coatings over smooth ceramic or glass surfaces, a primer with good adhesion is required.
Are there any special requirements for the wetting and dispersion of pigments/fillers in polysiloxane resin? What are the requirements for additives in polysiloxane system?
Polysiloxane resin is relatively sensitive to alkalinity, so avoid to use highly alkaline additives, weakly alkaline additives are acceptable. It is also highly sensitive to moisture, avoid solvents/pigments with high moisture. Mimimize exposure to high-humidity environments during production. Keep tightly sealed to prevent air exposure.
